WELCOME TO KIDSBRAINTREE - FORT COLLINS

Our clinic serves to resolve two main challenges for people.

The first is often seen in children and shows up as inappropriate meltdowns and tantrums. The root cause is often because there are links in their brains that have not grown at the same pace as the rest of them. Their development is “asynchronous” in other words their development has not been all at the same pace. Sometimes they are their age, sometimes they are 30 and sometimes they are 1 or still in utero. This can be very frustrating to try sort out. Many parents and teachers are baffled and the thing they say is: "I know the child can do this, but they just won't." or I have also heard " I know they can, but they want to annoy me."

OT For Quirky Kids: NeuroDevelopmental Movement Training

NeuroDevelopmental Movement Training is a bottom up approach to development using specific movements based on the way babies and children are innately designed to grow.

Our Primitive Reflex (infant or neo-natal) integration program uses developmentally informed movements, Rehab theory from Brunnstrom, gentle Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Fascilitation (PNF), NeuroDevelopmental Techniques(NDT) and interoception with kinesthetic figure ground to rebuild the foundations necessary to help overcome learning, sensory, emotional and behavioural challenges for children and adults.

OT for Quirky Kids: Integrated Listening Systems

ILS is a multi-sensory program for improving brain function. The activities are fun and can be customised for all ages and skill levels.

iLs is based on the fact that we can change our brain – we can essentially re-wire it through specific and repeated stimulation, a concept known as neuroplasticity. As in building strength and endurance with physical exercise, we are able to build neurological pathways and synaptic activity at any age.

iLs trains for brain/body integration through a staged approach, starting with the fundamentals of sensory integration and then extending through more complex cognitive functions, including language, self-expression and social skills.

OT for Quirky Kids: Quantum Reflex Integration

Quantum Reflex Integration combines sound (harmonious frequencies) and light (Low-Level Laser Therapy) to revolutionize the way reflexes are integrated. Cold lasers are combined with the integration of primitive reflex patterns and improvements are seen in cognition, behavior, emotional stability, and movement. Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI) uses harmonic laser frequencies for each reflex and acupoint. Eye tracking, eye-hand coordination, hand strength and grasping, as well as movement, are often visibly improved in 2 – 3 sessions.

The laser is applied on specific acupoints points determined by Bonnie Brandes and the protocols established by her are followed in our clinic in all Tier One (non-therapist directed) interventions. Should any individualisation of the program need to implement, an Occupational Therapist will make the specific changes after an evaluation.

OT for all Kids: Sensory Motor Program

If a child’s vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile, visual, and auditory systems have not developed properly, they will fail to support the child’s attempts to learn academic work, sit still, pay attention, complete tasks, and learn appropriate social behaviors. Current brain research shows movement is the key to rewiring and integrating brain and body functions for improved learning outcomes.

In our Sensory Motor Program, a personal coach will guide each student through an intensive one-on-two program designed to train the sensorimotor system in balance, coordination, rhythm, sequencing, mindfulness and focus/attention. The activities and body exercises strengthen thinking and sequencing abilities that prepare the brain to learn. The result is that students improve reading and comprehension levels, math scores, better grades and show improved behavior.
